Did you know, that every 2 seconds someone needs blood? EVERY 2 SECONDS. It could be a friend, a family member, a neighbor, or even a stranger, but some day, it could be you.
The Real Charitable Housewives are encouraging everyone that can donate, to do so. Join us this Valentine’s Day week, Feb 13-18th for our Hero Drive. You can go to any one of the Blood Bank of Delmarva sites in the STATE, and make your donation. Please call 1-888-8-BLOOD-8 TODAY to schedule your appt for that week!! Be Someone’s Hero…and donate blood!
You MUST make an appointment ahead of time to be able to donate blood! They are taking appointments at all state locations throughout that week, but different locations have different hours and numbers of available slots! The Blood Bank needs 350 donors A DAY to keep our 16 area hospitals supplied! Your donation DOES make a difference! Give Love…Give Blood! ♥
** On a very personal note **
I am afraid….no, I take that back, I am TERRIFIED of needles. It’s not the pain, I don’t feel that really, but it’s the needle itself. It is by far my greatest fear (with the obvious exception of something horrible happening to my kids or a loved one). I have had this fear since I was probably about 7 years old. I can’t even watch it on tv, even in cartoon form.
On Saturday, I will be celebrating my son’s 6th birthday. 3 days after he was born, I was back in the ER for complications from his birth/my pregnancy. I should have never been released from the hospital in the first place without a blood transfusion. By the time that all was said and done, I didn’t need the transfusion, but I am telling this story because things could have gone very differently for me. Had things gone the other way, I would have needed the blood that someone so selflessly donated. To those that donate - I am eternally grateful that it was available had I needed it!
For this reason – I am “pulling up the big girl panties” and I have my appointment scheduled for next Friday afternoon. It’s not fair of me to ask you all to donate if I am not willing to do it myself.
So – I am donating for you – each and every one of you – and for the person who donated that I almost needed. Call today for your appointment – be a hero to someone…actually 3 someones since each donation can save 3 people’s lives!

At our Mom Prom, will be crowing the “Tackiest Gown”, the “Highest Hair”, “Person Who Traveled Furthest” and “Prom Queen”!
This will be a fun night of dancing, desserts, friendship and charity in which women can dance the night away and help a worthy cause. So look for that old gown in the back of your closet and get ready to dance, dance, dance while helping those in need!
This year our prom will benefit the The Andrew McDonough B+® Foundation.
“This Foundation was created to honor a 14-year-old star — on and off the soccer field. He bravely battled leukemia with his “Be Positive” attitude and B+ bloodtype, never leaving the hospital for 167 days, and earned his spot in heaven in July 2007.
The B+ Foundation spreads Andrew’s positive attitude and zest for life and has changed the way thousands of families relate to each other. We have also helped families across the country — financially and emotionally — as they care for their critically ill children. We have committed several hundred thousand dollars to children’s cancer research in the hope that soon no family will go through the loss that we have.”
***Tickets are currently sold out, however, you can be placed on the waiting list by emailing mompromdelaware@gmail.com ***

Yesterday was a great day for RCHD. We had 12 volunteers that arrived at The Ronald McDonald house of Delaware and we cooked up a great breakfast for the guests of the house. Dozens of eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, and donuts along with juice, coffee, and fruit started off the day. While we warmed the kitchen with a hot breakfast, the Ronald McDonald House warmed our hearts with a tour of the house. It was very bittersweet to go on this tour because this house is FABULOUS! They really thought of everything, right down to hair cuts! The bittersweet part is that while the house is fabulous, the reasons for being there are not. The Ronald McDonald House relies on donations for most of it’s day to day operating. They have a continuous wish list on their website, please check it out and consider donating some items.
